About Me

I’m a photographer based out of Durango Colorado who specializes in photographing architecture, I also have a mild Boston Terrier obsession.

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska but have spent more time in La Plata County than all my time in Alaska. I joined the Army in 1988 and served 12 years between active duty and The Colorado Army National Guard. I retired from The La Plata County Sheriff’s Office Dec 31, 2015 and am working on my 3rd career as a luxury real estate and architecture photographer and videographer. I have worked with some of the most talented professionals in the last few years that have opened my eyes to the beauty, style and design in this world and my path as a photographer has changed in ways I couldn’t imagine.

How It Started

I started my business doing what ever came my way, weddings, babies, events, and even a photo booth. I started my photo booth portion of my business because I had no idea how to tell my clients how to pose themselves to show off their best features. I had a real fear of posing people. I found out on accident that drunk people will pose in any way you tell them to without hesitation and practicing posing on them was the best way to learn. I watched tutorial after tutorial on posing and even put together a posing book. I charged a small amount for my photo booth photos and got practice in at the same time.

How It’s Going

I joined BNI in 2016 and met a real estate agent that asked me to give real estate photography a try. At first, I must admit I was terrible! He was kind enough to point out my mistakes and keep giving me chance after chance to prefect my ability to capture the life style of a property. It wasn’t until the pandemic of 2020, when I was laid off for several months, that I took this opportunity to educate myself in better ways to capture and edit real estate photos. I took the Mike Kelley classes on line. It changed my life forever. Since then, I have taken several of his classes and continue to learn better, faster and more efficient ways of blending art and architecture.

In the last year I have had the privilege of taking photos, walk threw video and areal footage of a $17,000,000, a $20,000,000 and a $35,000,000 homes. My photography is featured in The Wall Street Journal and you can see my work on my YouTube Channel and at the Wells Group in Durango.
